Exotic Food 02/14/2011

For those of us who travel frequently, we often indulge in a new cuisine. I have been to many places and tried their food and some are ridiculous while others look down right weird. But anywhere you go you MUST have tried at least some local or interesting food (unless your like my brother who would only eat McDonalds ANYWHERE we went!

The coolest local food I have ever tried is deep-fried ice-cream. Now you are probably thinking, deep fried ice-cream? She must be bonkers! Well I am most certainly NOT! Deep-fried ice-cream originates from Asia and Mexico and is a common delicacy. I had this yummy treat on my Mexican cruise this past March and I can still remember myself savouring each bite. Is it high in calories? Yup! Is there lots of fat? You bet! But a treat every here and there won't hurt us and if we eat it once or twice in a lifetime, it will be worth it! Believe me, I was unsure at first but now I am craving one of those suckers. Deep-fried ice-cream is vanilla ice-cream coated with a crunchy outer layer of either oatmeal or cornflakes. The ice-cream stays cold and creamy on the inside while the outside is hot and crunchy like a cookie. The texture and taste is so perfect!

Mmm.. there it is and as you can see, they have put whipped cream and a cherry on top. The ice-cream inside is slowly melting but the outler layer is keeping it in tact.

That does look like a tasty treat. I can't wait to find a restuarant that serves these or I might make some myself while I watch Glee. Thanks for sharing. I wish I could go to Mexico. My favourite food is from this place in Canada called Montreal. It's in this state of Quebec. I went there with my parents and I had a poutine which was gravy, cheese and fries. It was hot and yummy. Have you ever been to Canada? It isn't cold there all the time and it is kinda like here in the States.

P.S Can you still review Venice please?

@Juicy Girl, we live in Toronto (Me, Sabrina, JayJay, Chris, BanlgaBuddy and Candy_Gurl) :) I am visiting Vancouver in the summer for a few days! Any suggestions for restaurants or museums? I'm excited because Aritzia/TNA and Lululemon are from there, and those are some of my favourite stores!

Well, a majority of the time I spend in a foreign country consists of me either vomiting, or suffering from the after-taste of vomiting. However, the farthest I've probably gone to 'exotic food' in a foreign country would be a meatball the size of an ostrich egg with an egg inside in Gujarat, I think.

Yeah, I'm a real risk-taker. But, I plan on having lobster soon...

@JuicyGirl Cool! Toronto is great! If u ever visit and it's around the summer time, go to the Toronto Islands. They take u by ferry to this island about 15-20 mins away from Toronto, and there are beaches, bike trails and even an amusement park there :) LOL Sabrina was telling me how I HAVE to go to Red Robin as well! At school in the lab she made me go on the website and look at the locations! And ok I will ask if we can go to Blue Water :P And yeah Sabrina said I should go to Pacific Mall & Metropolis in Metrotown :)
